The "fans" of Basra province on Wednesday expressed strong opposition to what is being traded on the selection of a minister of oil other than the people of the province in the composition of the Iraqi government in charge of Adel Abdul Mahdi.

This is due to present Abdul Mahdi today evening, his government to the Iraqi parliament to vote.

A statement issued by the "masses" of Basra that "we have received unofficial but almost certain reports indicating the names of candidates to fill some ministries in the next Iraqi government, including the Ministry of Oil."

The statement added that "according to what was published, the candidate for this ministry is from outside the province of Basra, which exports more than 80% of Iraq's oil, so we register our strong opposition as the Egyptians on this nomination."

The statement called on members of the Iraqi parliament "all to not vote" on the candidate of the Ministry of Oil, saying that "if passed, despite the will of the people of Basra, we will take out mass demonstrations throughout the province and we will cut off roads leading to all oil fields.

It is noteworthy that the pages on social networking sites and some local media have leaked unofficially the names of the government group, which will be presented by the assigned Adel Abdul Mahdi, the Iraqi parliament, namely: Foreign Ministry Mohammed al-Hakim, the Ministry of Oil Thamer Ghadhban, health Alaa Alawani, Higher Education, Qusay Al-Suhail, Interior Faleh Al-Fayadh, Defense Hisham Al-Daraji, Immigration and Displaced Vian Dakhil, and Finance Fuad Hussein.
