The parliamentary law announced on Saturday its intention to pass a draft law on dual nationality during the first legislative term, indicating that the political reasons prevented the passage during the previous sessions.
"The draft law on dual nationals is fully prepared since previous sessions, but the parliament could not pass them because of political differences," said Aridi, a member of the committee.
She added that "the reason why the law is not passed to include many leaders and politicians who took up positions because they are the first affected who must give up their second nationalities," noting that "the Legal Committee is determined to pass during the first legislative term."
"If the law is passed, it can not be retroactive or includes current ones, but for future sessions, including the three presidencies, ministers, members of parliament, security leaders, heads of bodies and others."
The legal expert Ali al-Tamimi, on Saturday, the non-application of the prevention of dual nationality to those who hold positions of sovereignty and high to the interpretation of the Federal Court of the recent absence of a regulated law.
