The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers on Sunday, the government's approval to open a Turkish consulate in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .
"The Council of Ministers has agreed to open a consulate of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Iraq in the province of Najaf," it said in a statement.
This was based on the Council's approval of the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard, based on the provisions of articles 25 and 26 of the Foreign Service Law No. 45 of 2008 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963. "
The statement added that "the declaration provided for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to complete the procedures for opening the consulate of the Republic of Turkey in the province of Kirkuk, and submitted to the Council of Ministers for the purpose of ratification, and the retention of Iraq's right to open a consulate to the Turkish Republic in the future in accordance with the principle of reciprocity."
The decision to open the consulate in the provinces, according to the statement of the Secretariat, to expand tourism and travel services and facilitate the procedures for obtaining visas and features of entry to provide the best services to citizens.
