The National Coalition, led by Iyad Allawi, on Monday, the most prominent names nominated for the portfolio of the Iraqi Defense Ministry.
"The National Coalition presented many names to Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, as candidates for the defense portfolio," said MP Nahru Abdulkarim. "These names are civil and some have military backgrounds."
"The most prominent candidate names are Salim al-Jubouri, a civilian politician and Najah al-Shammari, with a military background and other personalities, and the prime minister remains fully free to choose any names of those nominated by the National Coalition," he said.
