Secretary-General of the Dawa Party Nuri al-Maliki on Tuesday denied a statement attributed to him on directing the party's offices to "collect arms and confront" America and Arab countries.

"There is no truth to what was attributed to me in the false statement addressed to the offices of the Islamic Dawa Party to collect weapons and confront a number of Arab countries and the United States of America," Maliki said in a tweet on his official Twitter Web site.

"Although he (the statement) is false and false, it raises question marks on the parties behind him and the circles that instigated him ... I condemn all those who participated in this false statement."

Maliki called on the media to "adopt the information from its official sources and be careful not to fall into dealing with such lies."
