asks MP for the National Approach Bloc Jamal al-Mohammadawi, on Thursday, about the fate of the amount of more than seven billion dinars that have been collected from citizens and set in the budget law for the maintenance of roads and bridges, calling for the statement of exchange resources or cancellation.
Al-Mohammadawi said in a statement received / Mawazine News / a copy of it, that "Article (2) of the law to impose fees on vehicles for the maintenance of streets and bridges No. (40) for the year 2015, which provided for the collection of fees specified in the law and distributed to the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Secretariat of Baghdad for the purpose Maintenance of roads, bridges, internal streets and intersections.
He added, "Based on this article, the General Directorate of Traffic has worked to collect those fees from vehicles when renewing their registration license."
He continued, "According to the book of the Accounting Department at the Ministry of Finance Issue 4464 dated 1/7/2019, the amount collected amounted to three billion and ninety-seven million and fifty thousand dinars for the year 2018, but the current year 2019 amounted to four billion nine hundred and four hundred and forty thousand dinars. "More than seven billion dollars have been collected from citizens, but most of the bridges and public roads that have been neglected have not been renovated and maintained."
Al-Mohammadawi called for "a statement of the resources of the disbursement of these amounts and in the absence of disbursement of the specified resources, citizens should not be burdened financially to no avail."
