American consumer spending increased at the lowest pace by 3 years in 2019

American consumer spending rose modestly in December, but the increase in 2019 as a whole was the smallest in three years, giving an indication that the US economic growth may slow in the coming months.
The US government said consumer spending rose 0.3% last month, while wages grew 0.2%, and the main reason for these rises was greater spending on medicines and health care.
