Nassif said in a statement that "the investment law before the amendment in 2015 used to grant land for free on the condition that it be the last beneficiary of the housing unit, and it was not applied because of the investors' control over the value of the land, and the consumer did not benefit from the law."
She added, "The law was amended in 2015, so that the lands that are located within the municipality’s borders are given in exchange for an allowance, and that are outside the municipality’s boundaries, are given free of charge, and the value of the allowance has become 2% of the value of the land, and this is against the law." The beneficiary has to pay a full allowance for the land, and the objection was made by the House of Representatives and there is a committee that looks into this matter, but a wait has been made until (all important lands are resolved) and then they return to the law. "
Nassif added that "among the disasters that occurred in the transfer of lands for investment is the transfer of the land adjacent to Baghdad International Airport to Al-Reda Real Estate Investments Company, in contravention of the law," explaining that "this land extending over an area of 1,600 dunums was swallowed by this company to build housing units and trade in them."
Nassif emphasized, "the need for the Prime Minister to intervene, stop and cancel all illegal investment referrals, withdraw investment licenses from some strategic and important sites for the state, such as the land near Baghdad International Airport, and open a series of investigations into previous referrals that violate the law."
