Ministry of Electricity: Kurdistan Region provides us with about 650-800 megawatts
Shafaq News/ The Minister of Electricity in the Federal Government, Adel Karim announced on Wednesday that the Kurdistan Regional Government is providing the federal government with approximately 800 megawatts of energy per day.
This came in a joint press conference held with the Minister of Electricity of the Region, Kamal Muhammad Salih, who is visiting with a delegation from his ministry the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
During the conference, Karim said: We discussed the electrical link between Iraq and Turkey through the region, and during the subsequent period, this line will enter service and benefit the whole country, including the Kurdistan Region.
He added, "We agreed on several points in the areas facing a problem with preparing energy to provide support for it, namely: Sheikhan, Makhmour, and Jabara in the Kalar region, in addition to cooperating with them in dealing with problems in the Derluk electrical station in the region."
On the average energy supplied by the Kurdistan Regional Government to the federal government, the minister said: It ranges between 650 megawatts - 800 megawatts per day, supplied by Kurdistan to those regions.
For his part, the Minister of Electricity of the Territory said during the conference that he had discussed with the Iraqi Minister of Electricity the common issues between the two ministries that complement one another, as well as the interconnection between energy networks, stressing that there are electrical projects in the disputed areas that need the support of the Federal Ministry of Electricity.
And he added that they also discussed the Japanese loan to support projects and backed by the public financial budget, going on to say that the Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Region was able to increase the rate of energy production.
