{Political: Al Furat News} A leader in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan announced that the presidency of the republic is "settled" for the union.
Mahmoud Khoshnaw told {Euphrates News}: "The position of the presidency is settled within the Kurdish component of the Patriotic Union, and there are Kurdish-Kurdish and non-Kurdish agreements to pass the PUK candidate."
He added that "the only candidate for the Union until now is Barham Salih, and there will be one Kurdish candidate in the House of Representatives," stressing that "the scenario of nomination for the presidential position in the 2018 parliament will not be repeated in presenting Kurdish candidates to the House of Representatives."
Yesterday, Monday evening, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan announced its unanimous nomination of Barham Salih for the post of President of the Republic for a second term.
The Presidency of the Council announced yesterday the House of Representatives opened the door for nomination for the presidency of the republic , "noting that" the president will be elected by no later than the end on 8 next February. "
