    The Information/Baghdad…
The Ministry of Agriculture announced, on Monday, that it is counting on holding a joint conference with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” on the eighth of next February, to discuss the areas of developing agricultural requirements and water rationing operations, in the largest review of Iraq’s agricultural plans.
The ministry's spokesman, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in a statement that "the work of (FAO) is to follow up the standard of living of member states and to fight starvation," noting that the representatives of Iraq and the ministry "entered negotiations with the organization to discuss reviving the plant or animal sector."
Al-Naif promised the conference a turning point for Iraq in the field of its agricultural strategies, noting that "the conference will bring together a number of members of the organization and senior managers of the ministry, and will discuss strategies for water rationing and the development of agricultural requirements."
He explained, "The agenda will address desertification, modern water technologies, mechanisms to reduce the water crisis and share damage, so we were keen to attend the Turkish side concerned with water, as Turkey is one of the riparian countries," noting that "the government is required to increase allocations to reach self-sufficiency in all agricultural crops." . finished/25
