The coordination framework is engaged in a new round of talks on the impact of Barzani's initiative and is preparing a paper on "critical" guarantees
Shafaq News/ The Coordination Framework will hold a new round of talks today, Tuesday, to discuss a political initiative submitted by Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani, to resolve the dispute between the leaders of the framework and the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr, less than a week before a crucial session of the Iraqi parliament to choose a president. And then assign a candidate to form the new government.
A leading source in the coordination framework told Shafaq News Agency, "Yesterday's meeting of the framework leaders did not produce specific outcomes, because the initiative of the leader of the Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, did not reach its details officially, which necessitated the completion of the meeting for the next day to lay down a number of important points that will be written down. Later, as a partnership contract between the framework and the Sadrist bloc, and with its signature by the two parties, matters will proceed towards dissolution and the formation of the government comfortably, without affecting the program of the national government.”
He added that "today's meeting will also discuss setting points or obtaining guarantees to proceed with the implementation of the initiative with al-Sadr, and if it is approved by the latter, it will be unified with the paragraphs of the Kurdish initiative, in other words, the ball will be transferred from the framework square to the allied forces square to form the government." .
He continued, "If al-Sadr refuses this, the framework has no choice but to go to the opposition. The matter remains subject to the agreements of the framework leaders."
The coordination framework meeting comes in the wake of an initiative launched by Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani, which led to the meeting of the Triple Alliance, in Al-Hanana (Sadr’s residence in Najaf), which included Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region (the Democratic Party), and Khamis al-Khanjar and Muhammad al-Halbousi for (sovereignty), with the chest.
The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to hold a session, the second of its legislative life, next Monday, in which it chooses the president.
Most of the odds indicate that Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, will be president of the republic, and that the latter will assign the Sadrist bloc's candidate to form the Iraqi government.
In terms of numbers, the tripartite alliance (Al-Sadr, the Democratic Party and the Sovereignty) constitutes about two-thirds of the parliament’s members, as the Sadrist bloc has 73 seats, the Democratic Party has 31, and the Sovereignty Alliance has 67 seats, bringing a total of 171 seats out of a total of 329 deputies.
