    Information / Baghdad..
Law expert Ali Al-Tamimi considered, on Wednesday, the decision of Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi to reopen the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic as contrary to the constitution and the law, indicating that the ceilings and restrictions in it cannot be broken except by a decision of the Federal Court or the amendment of Law No. 8 of the year 2012 .
Al-Tamimi said in a statement to “The Information” that “the decision of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi to reopen the nomination for the position of President of the Republic is in violation of the Constitution, Article 72 and Articles 2, 3, 4, 5 of the Nomination Law for the position of President of the Republic.”
He added that “the decision is overshadowed by the administrative aspects more than the constitutional and is subject to appeal before the Federal Court,” noting that “the ceilings and restrictions in it are not subject to breaking except by a decision of the Federal Court or the amendment of Law No. 8 of 2012.”
Al-Tamimi pointed out that “the Federal Court postponed the ruling on the constitutionality of Hoshyar Zebari’s nomination, which led to the disruption of the session on February 7, and that its next decision in the case, whether positive or negative, will allow Parliament to vote only on the previously registered candidates.” Ended / 25 AD
