Yesterday, Tuesday, the Border Ports Authority issued 6 new decisions.
A statement by the authority, received by Al-Mada, stated that "the head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, met with directors and assistants of the border crossings and a number of officers and employees working in the search and investigation department."
The statement explained, "The work of the border crossings was evaluated during the first month of this year to find out the most important results achieved and stress the need to continue, preserve and improve them for the better, as well as identifying obstacles and errors to address them and ensure that they are not repeated."
The statement added that "the meeting focused on the need to adhere to work controls in all ports (land, sea and air)," noting that "one of the most important goals are:
1- Preventing and following up smuggling operations and wasting public funds and adopting qualitative methods to undermine and eliminate them firmly.
2- Checking the certificate of origin, import licence, pre-examination documents, border sequences, sea and land manifests, and electronically exempted items to prevent forgery or distortion of official papers.
3- Ensuring the realization of the sovereign duties in proportion to the value of the goods and preventing any manipulation of public money.
4- Detecting violations, referring violators to the judiciary and inflicting maximum penalties to deter anyone who takes advantage of his position in violating the law.
5- Coordinating and exchanging information with the departments operating at the border crossing and opening official channels of communication to prevent the passage of any smuggling or manipulation of public money.
6- Emphasizing that the port managers and their assistants carry out field work and carry out qualitative and sudden audits to ensure that the law is applied properly and according to the controls. And he added, "All managers and assistants have been energized and motivated to make the most sincere efforts to serve the country."
