    Baghdad: Fadel Al-Nashmi
, yesterday (Tuesday), the Iraqi Ministry of Oil asked the Joint Operations Command to arrest the Iraqi parliament member, Zahra Al-Bajari, on the basis of arrest warrants issued against her on charges of “extortion and misinformation.”
The Ministry of Oil said in a statement, "The Legal Department of the Ministry of Oil approached the Joint Operations Command, to implement the arrest and investigation order against the fleeing accused (Zahra Hamza Ali Al-Bajari), issued by the Federal Integrity Commission - the Investigation Department, and the presidency of the Basra Federal Appeal Court - the competent investigation court. Integrity issues. The statement added, "The fugitive accused, Zahra Al-Bajari, has committed acts of misinformation and blatant extortion against the Basra Oil Company for personal goals and narrow interests, sometimes taking advantage of her parliamentary position or sheltering some political figures as a cover to implement her goals through extortion and misleading the company's work and deliberate abuse of its business and projects. and its officials.”
The ministry believes that the actions of the accused deputy caused "direct and indirect damage to a number of important projects in the energy sector, disrupting and delaying their implementation, as well as harming the investment environment in the Basra Oil Company."
The ministry called on the security authorities and elements of judicial control in all constitutional institutions to “implement the judicial order for the purpose of achieving justice and stopping the chain of demolition and sabotage resulting from acts of extortion and falsification of facts.”
Members of Parliament enjoy parliamentary immunity that prevents their arrest except after obtaining the approval and vote of the House of Representatives, before the Federal Court issues a decision at the end of May 2021, not granting Parliament that authority, and that the MP’s immunity is “abolished if he is accused of misdemeanors or felonies.” or irregularities.
Last week, Representative Zahra Al-Bajari welcomed the House of Representatives' vote to cancel the Cabinet's decision assigning the Minister of Oil to perform the duties of the director of the National Oil Company in addition to his job for violating the law. And she said in a statement, "The vote cancels, in turn, all agreements and contracts signed by the minister; Because the caretaker government is not constitutionally authorized to enter into such contractual or international obligations.”
She pointed out that “the most important of these contracts and agreements are related to the agreement contracts with the French company Total, the Chinese company’s contract, the framework agreements with Jordan, the Mansourieh fields, the crutch, and any contracts concluded in the name of the National Oil Company, as well as any administrative orders issued assigning officials; This is for violating the law.”
Al-Bajari stressed the suspension and failure to implement all the measures taken by the Ministry of Oil regarding the establishment of the Iraqi National Oil Company until the completion of the legislative procedures for the first amendment to the law.
In January 2019, Al-Bajari denied receiving 20 billion dinars in exchange for her transfer from the "Wisdom" movement to the "Al-Fateh" coalition. In the same year, the judiciary reprimanded the deputy's husband, who was holding the position of director of the central output department at the Basra Oil Company, after he was convicted of embezzling funds with false receipts.
On the other hand, the Public Prosecution stressed, yesterday (Tuesday), the need to remove the problems that hinder the resolution of cases related to the Integrity Commission. Chief Public Prosecutor, Najm Abdullah Ahmed, stressed to the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Alaa Jawad Al-Saadi, “the importance of instructing all investigation offices affiliated to the Commission to provide the Presidency of Public Prosecution with statistical tables containing all the required information that will be adopted as a database for the purpose of following up with the relevant ministries and departments. and correcting the procedures to be followed in the future.[/size]
