Phantom companies and overlapping laws confuse the tourism sector in Babylon

The conflict is raging between tourism companies and passenger transport companies in Babylon because of clear violations of travel laws, as they accuse each other of violating the specific powers of these companies, such as cutting travel tickets, obtaining visas, grouping tourists, in addition to using buses for transporting tourists.
Bringing lawsuits
Osama al-Jubouri, director of a tourism company, says to (Al-Mada) that "transport companies clearly exceed the work of tourism companies by providing airline tickets and travel visas for travelers, in addition to grouping tourists."
Al-Jubouri indicated, "The total of tourism companies in Babylon were greatly affected by these violations, forcing them to file lawsuits against transport companies and unlicensed tourism companies."
The number of companies specialized in the field of tourism and officially approved by the Tourism Authority in Babylon is only 38, while the number of fictitious and unlicensed companies reaches more than 100 companies.
Legal violations
On the other hand, the owners of passenger transport companies that are administratively affiliated with the Transport Authority say that tourism companies are also violating the law of their work by not renting buses from transport companies, which caused confusion in the tourism business.
Amir Al-Khafaji, the owner of a transport company for travelers to Al-Mada, says that “tour companies violate the tourism law, which obliges them, in the event of grouping tourists, to deal with the Transport Authority through registered transport companies and rent buses for tourists.”
Al-Khafaji pointed out that "some tourism companies started providing their own buses to benefit financially, and this generated an imbalance in the application of the law and encouraged the overlapping of powers, given that everyone is looking to earn money."
Closure of fictitious companies
The Tourism Authority in Babylon took the initiative to close dozens of fictitious companies in the province, as they are in violation of the Tourism Authority's law and affect the work of licensed companies.
The director of the Tourism Authority in the province, Qassem Noman, revealed to (Al-Mada) that "70 fake companies working in the field of tourism were closed illegally to facilitate the work of authorized companies."
Noaman added, "The cadres of the Tourism Authority are intensively following the work of all tourism companies to determine what is licensed from others," noting that "the authority has monitored nearly 100 fake companies."
The suffering of the tourism sector
The director of the Tourism Authority, Qassem Noaman, also confirmed that “the tourism sector suffers from major problems in the governorate with regard to organizing the work of companies and mechanisms for transporting tourists.”
Noaman noted, "The governorate lacks much of the infrastructure related to the reality of tourism, specifically in the field of hotels, and this is the most prominent problem in the deterioration of this sector, which can bring financial benefit to the governorate."
