Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced today, Saturday, that the second phase of the smart meters installation project includes the installation of 500 thousand new meters, pointing to the installation of more than 1.3 million meters for its subscribers during the previous stage of the project.
A statement by the ministry, received by Shafaq News Agency, stated that, during the first phase of the project to install smart scales for subscribers, it installed more than 1,300,000 smart scales in all regions of the Kurdistan Region, noting that the most governorates in which smart scales were installed is Erbil.
The statement explained that the installation of standards was more than 411 thousand scales in Erbil governorate, more than 352,000 scales in Sulaymaniyah governorate, more than 233,000 scales in Dohuk governorate and about 33,000 scales in Halabja governorate.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Region announced the completion of the project to remove electricity poles near the Erbil Citadel.
The ministry said in a statement that "the Council of Ministers earlier assigned the concerned authorities to implement a project to reorganize the Erbil Citadel in a way that suits its historical importance, and the Ministry of Electricity was tasked with removing electricity poles near the castle to preserve its archaeological character."
The statement added that "the project was completed in record time, as the poles were removed and the electricity wires were buried."
