Today, Tuesday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi stressed the importance of the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, while the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, praised the role of the Iraqi government in reducing tensions in the region.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office said, "Al-Kazemi met in New York with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and during the meeting reviewed the efforts made by the Iraqi government to adopt a meaningful national dialogue between the political forces that paves the way for a way out of the current political crisis, and helps maintaining civil peace and consolidating stability in Iraq.
The Prime Minister affirmed Iraq's serious desire to build the best relations with the brotherly Arab countries, as well as support the crucial Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, stressing the importance of the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria to find a solution to Arab and regional issues.
For his part, Aboul Gheit praised Al-Kazemi's efforts to promote the path of national reconciliation and his initiative for national dialogue, stressing the Arab League's support for the Iraqi government, and its prominent role in alleviating tensions in the region by adopting a policy of dialogue and calm, and working to bring different viewpoints closer.
