    Baghdad - people
Parliamentary circles have leaked conflicting information about the fate of the draft budget for the year 2023, at a time when the negotiations of the delegations of the Kurdistan region are in place regarding the region’s share of it.

The representative of the Fatah parliamentary bloc, Ali Turki, said: "The government has completed the draft budget law, and it will be sent to parliament in conjunction with the start of the second legislative term, which will start its work on the ninth of this month, for the purpose of discussing and approving it."

Turki said, in a press statement: "Confirmed information we obtained indicates that the Sudanese government has fully completed the draft budget law for the current year," noting that "the government, in turn, will send the draft law to the House of Representatives for the purpose of discussion and approval."

He added that "Parliament will open its first session for the second legislative term and will set a number of laws in its agenda," suggesting "the arrival of the draft budget law this week."

The deputy's assertions contradict what the Kurdish deputies say about the fact that the lack of political agreement on the region's share of the budget will hinder its transfer from the government to parliament, even with the declaration of some deputies of the coordination framework, the latter's commitment to the political agreements that led to the formation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shi'a al-Sudani of the government.

Representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Sharif Suleiman, confirmed, "The federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government did not reach an agreement regarding Kurdistan's share of the budget."

Suleiman pointed out, in a press statement, that "the current year's budget will provide all the needs of the citizen and is in the preparation stage by the government." He added, "The 2023 budget will translate the government program into health, electricity, investment and infrastructure files," noting that it "is not ready to be referred to parliament."

He explained that "the reasons for not being ready for discussion and approval are that it needs to prepare paragraphs, including the region's share, the exchange rate, and infrastructure allocations."

The leader of the Union, Ghiath Surji, said in a press statement, that "differences between the Kurdistan Union and the Democratic Party still exist, and there is no official date or specific place for holding a meeting between the two parties at any level so far, except for statements made by the Democrat through the words of its leaders through the means media".

Sorji added that "the representatives of the union are not present within the government delegation of the region, which will arrive in Baghdad to reach an understanding on the budget, due to the withdrawal of the deputy prime minister and ministers of the union in the regional government."

Surji stressed that "the only reference for resolving differences is Baghdad, and we are still following the approach of the late Jalal Talabani."
