Member of Parliament Sherif Suleiman said, in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by “Nass” (January 14, 2023), that “raising the crisis of the rise in the dollar exchange rate and the central bank’s measures regarding it will be a priority for Parliament in the upcoming sessions, as it affects the people’s power.” The Iraqi parliament must have an opinion on this matter,” stressing that “we will not stand idly by regarding the devaluation of the national currency.”

He added that "Parliament is awaiting the budget and many other matters of concern to the people of the poor class during this legislative season," stressing that "the House of Representatives has authority over all authorities, not in the executive form, but the opinion of Parliament is the responsive one, as it is the supervisor of the central bank's performance, plans and programs." .

For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Muhammad Anouz, criticized the parliament presidency, "because of the delay in enacting important laws."

Anouz said, according to the newspaper: "The responsibility for not legislating and approving laws does not lie with the deputy alone, but rather there are mechanisms and procedures in accordance with the law of the House of Representatives and its internal system that controls the work and performance of the deputy and the specialized committees."

He added that "many projects and proposals go to the parliament's presidency, which is responsible for the work, which presents this law over another law according to priorities," calling for "improving the parliament's performance in a way that enables parliamentary committees to determine the feasibility and importance of laws, by strengthening the role of representatives in the voting process." Adoption of the work schedule and the embodiment of the will of the voters and their representatives in general.

Anouz referred to "the interference of the political factor in this file in approving the laws that society needs, and they are many, such as those that cover state institutions and that respond to the needs of citizens, such as social security, retirement, amending the amnesty law, partnership between the public and private sectors, encouraging development, the civil service law, and the law for improving agriculture and industry." private sector support and tax collection.
