Foreign Ministry: The security situation in Iraq is good and {ISIS} does not pose a threat

Yesterday, Saturday, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein considered that the security situation in Iraq is good and that ISIS terrorist cells do not pose a threat, while he pointed out that the government has put on the dialogue table the common security challenge between Baghdad, Tehran and Ankara, regarding terrorist groups and how to end their presence.
A statement by the ministry said, "Hussein met his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg, on the sidelines of the Davos Forum, and during the meeting they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of international and regional issues of common concern, in addition to discussing the file of Iraqi refugees in the European Union countries."
Hussein indicated, according to the statement, that "Iraq will discuss the issue of immigration at the level of the European Union during his next visit to Brussels."
He expressed his "thanks to the Austrian minister on the occasion of reopening the Austrian embassy in Baghdad," offering an official invitation to his counterpart Schallenberg to "visit Baghdad, accompanied by businessmen and investors, to hold dialogues with their Iraqi counterparts."
Hussein pointed out, "The presence of financial strength in Iraq as a result of the rise in global oil prices," stressing that "the security situation in Iraq is good despite the presence of some cells of ISIS terrorist gangs, but they do not pose a threat, taking into account their presence in the camps inside the Syrian territories." .
For his part, Schallenberg said, "His country, which is relatively small, is suffering from a refugee crisis, whose numbers have increased over the past, in addition to the large numbers of Ukrainian refugees."
He added, "His country expects an increase in the number of refugees during the current year," referring to "his country's desire to conclude an agreement in this regard with Iraq."
During his participation in a panel discussion entitled (The Middle East, a meeting point or a battlefield), in the presence of the Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, the Dutch Minister of Defense Casey Olenkren, the Jordanian Minister of Finance Muhammad Al-Asis, and the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Krondberk, Hussein said: "Iraq, since 2003, has pursued the path of democracy to deal with the internal situation of the country, and the link between domestic and regional politics in confronting the region's tensions," noting that "Iraq's current position is qualitative, because of its good relations with many countries of the world, Investing in these relations to play an important and essential role, pointing to the turning points in foreign policy, as its outcome was (Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership), in its first editions in Baghdad and the second in Amman.
