And the statement continued, “The committee asked about the contracts of the Ministry of Electricity concluded with some companies and the amounts allocated within the emergency support for food security and development law voted in the House of Representatives, the operational and investment funds disbursed by the ministry and the size of the expected growth and its plan regarding the service collection file, in addition to the issue of the ministry’s debts.” And the expected revenues, how to end the abuses of the electrical system, get rid of the import and purchase of energy, resort to the privatization system, the amount of fuel provided to the Ministry of Oil, and send it to the committee in an official letter.
He pointed out that “the interventions of the committee members also included the possibility of completing electrical networks for residential areas, establishing additional networks and including them in the budget for the year 2023, distributing electrical energy according to population density fairly, lighting external roads, relying on companies that produce reliable transformers, in addition to the issue of associated gas consumption, which It causes harm to neighboring countries, and the trend towards clean energy projects.
For his part, the Minister of Electricity said, according to the statement, that “the ministry is determined to advance this file through the support of the parliamentary committee and the concerned parties,” providing an explanation “about the ministry’s operational and investment budget, the doors of spending, spending, and maintenance, and the ministry’s mechanism in dealing with it.”
He added, "The ministry can implement additional compound units within the 2021 plan, recognizing the need for financial allocations, which delays the implementation of these projects in the plan prepared for the ministry," noting that the ministry needs additional projects related to combined cycles and the establishment of thermal stations.
Fadel explained, "The existence of a smart systems project to be presented to the Council of Ministers," revealing that "the deficit in electricity supply amounts to 14,000 megawatts, while it needs 37,000 megawatts to reach self-sufficiency in supply at a rate of 24 hours."
