The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, which is affiliated with the coordination framework, Hassan Al-Kaabi, criticized the work of the peasant associations, describing them as “exploitative mediators” between the government and the farmer.
Al-Kaabi said in an interview that “these associations” were the mediator between the farmer and the government in an exploitative manner and were not merciful, according to him.
He added, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani is following the file of the agricultural associations, and any other party that contributed to the looting of the Iraqi state's funds must be investigated, and therefore there were initiatives from the government that were not exploited to serve the farmer."
Al-Kaabi called on “the prime minister to search for where the money for the (agricultural and agricultural) initiatives went to clarify the facts.”
Farmers throughout Iraq complain about the lack of support and many left their work and turned to other professions, although the law of the General Union of Peasant Associations stipulates that: This association or union takes care of farmers’ affairs, and implements the state’s plans in organizing land cultivation and other agricultural activities in coordination with the competent agencies. And deepening the concept of agricultural development and its relationship to food security and generalizing the use of modern mechanization and scientific methods in agriculture.
On the 9th of this February, the electoral conference of the Executive Office of the General Federation of Cooperative Agricultural Associations in Iraq was held at the Naft Cultural Club hall in Baghdad, in the presence of 107 members of the General Assembly.
Representatives questioned the integrity of the Farmers Union elections and called for an investigation into its results.
