The legitimacy of the regional parliament creates a political division in Kurdistan

The Federal Supreme Court's decision on the illegality of extending the mandate of the Kurdistan Parliament opened the door wide to unleash a clear political division that began with the exchange of media war of words, and the widening of differences between the two parties, the Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to return the atmosphere of "distrust" between the two parties and their allies.
A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Fadel Nabi, told Al-Sabah: “The current estrangement between all parties in the region is a reflection of Iraq’s conditions and the regional and global conditions, and it affects the decisions of Kurdistan politicians,” adding, “But they will unite in confronting the fateful issues of the Kurdistan region, including its share.” from the budget."
Nabi added, "The situation of the Kurdistan region cannot bear more problems than it is today, as the international factor affecting the region changes a lot."
In turn, a member of the Kurdistan Union, Diyar Aqrawi, saw that "the differences of the two parties date back to the days of the opposition and the period after the uprising in 1991, and the dispute increased until it reached internal fighting in 1994, at that time the international factor intervened in mediations that led to the 1997 agreement for the two parties to participate in ruling the region according to a paper one". Aqrawi added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the period from 2003 to 2013 and 2014 is considered a "golden" period for the region, during which the two parties went to Baghdad to write the constitution and demand the dues of the Kurdistan region within one paper.
Aqrawi went on to say that "the differences increased more and appeared clearly in the recent early elections when the two parties turned to alliances on the principle of majority and minority, and relations deteriorated further with the withdrawal of the National Union ministerial team from the regional government," stressing that "the withdrawal relates to executive and legislative issues in the regional government and then returned problems recently.
Aqrawi believed that "the problem lies in the divergence of visions of the two parties in how to manage the region and the relationship with the federal government, as there is no joint project between them, and this is evident in the absence of a joint decision, and this will have dire consequences for political life in the region."
While a member of the Toilers of Kurdistan Hiwa Party, Sayed Salim, pointed out that "the political division is not a new matter, but rather extends to the time when these parties took over the rule of the region."
Salim added, to "Al-Sabah", that "the Federal Court's decision not to extend the parliament of the region exacerbated the intensity of the disputes," noting that "there is pressure on the Parti and Alekti parties to the dispute." He pointed out that "solutions to the current political crisis have become almost impossible with the existence of a political, non-military escalation," as he put it.
