[rtl]Baghdad / NINA /- The Child Welfare Authority at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced today, Thursday, the launch of the national platform for child data.
The Minister of Labor, Ahmed Al-Asadi, said, during the official celebration of the Child Welfare Authority on the occasion of the Iraqi Child Day, in the presence of representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), today, Thursday, in the capital, Baghdad: "The launch of this platform is part of the national policy measures for child protection, which are being worked on in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and UNICEF support.
He explained, "The platform will provide data, statistics, and surveys on the situation of children in Iraq and in various sectors, to be an official source for policy-makers, researchers, and those interested in children's rights."
He added, "The national service government has placed among its priorities attention to the file of child care and protection, as well as the Ministry of Labor, through the Child Welfare Authority, which has contributed to setting and preparing the national policy for child protection in Iraq as well as approving the national strategy for early childhood development, which includes a set of legislative frameworks. And institutional to create an environment that takes into account the interests of the child in a way that guarantees his care and protection, and the government is striving to approve the draft child protection law, which is currently being discussed by the specialized committees in the House of Representatives.
Al-Asadi called on donor countries and ministries represented by the Child Welfare Authority to provide support to the national platform for child data, through surveys and data, and work to ensure its permanence and keep pace with emerging issues related to child protection and promotion of his rights./ End 5
