    Today, Friday, the Investigation Department of the Integrity Commission carried out operations to arrest cases of waste of public money and violations in the implementation of contracts concluded by oil companies in Basra, and followed up on transactions at the General Company for the Distribution of Petroleum Products, indicating that (5) accused were arrested during those operations.
     
    The department stated in a statement received by “Al-Ma’louma” that “the Basra Investigation Directorate’s work team detected several violations in a contract concluded by the Iraqi Oil Tanker Company with a Bulgarian company to rent tankers to transport the “ship fuel” product, and they were not taken into account by the company’s commercial department before signing the contract. Despite the violations being confirmed by the Internal Control and Audit Department of the company itself,” she pointed out, “This caused significant financial losses incurred by the Iraqi Oil Tanker Company, as a result of this contract.”
     
    She added, "The preliminary details of a contract were seized to equip caravans with a fire system for the benefit of the Oil Exploration Company in Basra," explaining that "when the materials were prepared, at a cost of (350,000) thousand dollars, it turned out that the fire system was inoperative."
     
    She noted that "the company received it despite its malfunction, and did not ask the company that supplied it to maintain it."
     
    She pointed out that “5 people accused of tracking transactions in the General Company for Distribution of Petroleum Products in the governorate were arrested,” noting that “they were caught red-handed while they were tracking transactions for the processing of gas oil for the benefit of the owners of private generators without any legal status.”
     
    She stated that "the competent investigating judge decided to arrest the defendants who took advantage of their relationships with employees of the company to conduct investigations."
