The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, on Friday called on four Arab countries bordering Palestine to allow his followers to enter them in order to organize a “sit-in of two million” on their borders and bring relief aid and fuel into the besieged Gaza Strip, while pledging to them a commitment to order, law and peace.
He stated in his blog, saying: “I address this message to the governments of the sister countries: Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria, the countries neighboring the beloved Republic of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital. We hope that you will allow your Sadrist brothers in your brotherly Iraq to peacefully reach the borders of beloved Palestine with some in-kind donations of water, food and medicine.” And fuel to bring it, in coordination with you, into the fighting Gaza.”
He added: “We also hope that you will enable your Sadrist brothers to hold a peaceful, humanitarian sit-in at the Palestinian borders in your beloved countries during the coming days, and whoever wishes from the Arab, Islamic and humanitarian peoples.” He went on to say: “And if you agree, this is an honor that history and the future will plan for you, so may God reward you well.” We pledge to you the commitment to law and order and complete peace, as you have pledged to your Sadrist brothers in their protests.”
He added: “We are all aware, caring, and responsible for what is happening in beloved Gaza, and you are worthy of responsibility.”
Although Al-Sadr was the first to issue a call to protest in front of the Iraqi border with the countries that share borders with Israel (Syria and Jordan), he and his followers did not participate in the current sit-ins at the Iraqi-Syrian border, which were adopted by supporters of the political forces included in the “coordination framework.” Shiite for weeks.
In parallel, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” faction said that next week it would begin “a new phase in confronting enemies” in support of Palestine.
The German News Agency reported that “the new phase will be more severe and broader against enemy bases in the region.” In recent days, this faction has claimed responsibility for attacks on military bases, including American forces in Iraq and Syria, in response to the Israeli war on Gaza.
The position of the Iraqi government, headed by Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, is consistent with the position of the “coordination framework” towards the Palestinian issue and its rejection of Israeli crimes against the Gaza Strip.
According to a television statement by Fadi Al-Shammari, the political advisor to the Prime Minister, “Iraq’s position is strong towards the Palestinian issue.”
He stressed that “the Zionists used all the tools of death, and Iraq did what it had to do with regard to Gaza and will continue to do so,” indicating that “Iraq does not look at the logic of profit and loss in the Palestine issue.”
He explained that “the government of Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani is making an effort with all institutions to expose the crimes of the Zionists.”

He pointed out that “Al-Sudani believes in himself, his person, and the Palestinian cause,” pointing out that “the coordination framework has a clear and courageous position in supporting Palestine.”
According to Al-Shammari, “Shiite authorities have supported the Palestinian cause for many years, and the positions of Sayyed Al-Shirazi, Sheikh Kashif Al-Ghita, and Sayyed Mohsen Al-Hakim (prominent Shiite clerics) are still remembered.”
He pointed out that “the Arab peoples praised the Sudanese’s speech in Egypt, and Western countries thanked the Sudanese for his position in the Egypt Summit speech. Al-Sudani responded with his words to the words of those who trade in the Palestinian cause,” adding, “We observed in the Zionist media an attack and resentment of Al-Sudani’s speech at the Egypt summit.”
He also stated that “Iraq today is strong and present, and it is the heart of the Middle East,” considering that “what is coming out of Iraq is not emotional.”
Meanwhile, the leader of the “Victory” coalition, Haider al-Abadi, criticized what he described as “condoning” the crimes taking place against civilians in Gaza.
He received in his office the Ambassador of the United States of America to Iraq, Alina Romanski.
During the meeting, according to a statement from Abadi’s office, “the overall situation in Iraq and the region and the recent Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people were discussed.” Al-Abadi condemned “the clear bias in favor of the Zionist entity and condoning the crimes taking place against civilians in Gaza,” calling on the international community “to fulfill its supposed humanitarian role and help the people.”
Meanwhile, the American ambassador confirmed that “the presence of the United States is to help Iraq against terrorism and ensure its stability.”
Likewise, the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, confirmed during his meeting with the French Ambassador to Baghdad, Eric Chevalier, that the killing of children and the destruction taking place in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable.
The media office of the National Security Adviser said in a statement that Al-Araji and the French diplomat discussed “the latest developments in the situation, at the international and regional levels, in addition to discussing the files of the Syrian Al-Hawl camp, and the continuation of cooperation between Baghdad and Paris in the field of combating terrorism and exchanging information.” He added: “The meeting also witnessed a review of the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, and the killing of innocent people and collective punishment that Palestinians are subjected to.”
He stressed that "the killing of children and the destruction that is taking place in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable," noting that "innocent lives are being killed without any guilt."
He renewed “Iraq’s commitment to protecting diplomatic missions,” stressing that “Iraq’s consistent policy is to avoid disputes with neighboring countries and seek to consolidate the principle of dialogue and diplomatic channels in resolving crises.”
Meanwhile, the French ambassador expressed that “his country emphasizes taking into account the humanitarian aspect in the Gaza Strip,” praising the efforts of the Iraqi government in “protecting the missions operating in Iraq.”
Likewise, the representative of the “Al-Sadiqoon” bloc, Ahmed Al-Musawi, stated that the Islamic Resistance will continue to bomb American forces inside Iraq as a result of their illegal presence on Iraqi soil, pointing to the government’s assurances that Iraq does not need any presence of foreign combat forces in the country.
He said in statements reported by his bloc’s media, “The government has confirmed on more than one occasion that Iraq does not need any foreign forces or military bases, but America is seeking to impose the presence of its forces inside Iraq and is pressuring the government to keep its bases.” He added, "Iraq does not need any American military presence, and Parliament has said its word in this regard. Therefore, the continued American military presence will expose it to many attacks by resistance factions," pointing out that "America is planning to impose its hegemony over Iraq and is also imposing the presence of its forces."
According to the representative who belongs to the bloc led by Qais al-Khazali, Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, “The immaturity of diplomatic discussions to remove these forces will push the resistance towards targeting the positions of the American forces as a response to the continued American presence on Iraqi soil, especially since this presence is illegal.
