Since the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Iraqi diplomacy has been active in affirming the firm Iraqi position in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, in conjunction with the popular position that was evident in the demonstrations called for by popular and political activities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani delivered a speech that was described as important and decisive at the peace summit held in Cairo, in which he stressed that the Palestinian people are the only ones who decide their fate, while the President of the Republic’s speech came in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and in the same vein the government and Parliament were working to support the resistance position. The Dean of the College of Political Science at Al-Mustansiriya University, Dr. Khaled Abdul-Ilah, told Al-Sabah: The Iraqi diplomatic activity came in accordance with a government vision, praising the speeches of the Presidents of the Republic and the Ministers before the Arab and Islamic communities.
He added that the activity of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry came in accordance with a government vision that crystallized in the intensity of efforts to achieve a ceasefire since the first hours of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, in conjunction with hidden contacts with leaders of countries in the region and internationally influential countries, pointing out that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry achieved a qualitative leap in talking about the Palestinian issue, In addition to the Prime Minister's speech, which called for taking a real stance on the issue as it represents a people and a nation.
Abdul Ilah stressed that the Iraqi track meets the Arab and Islamic track in condemning the aggression and the importance of looking at the Palestinian issue through the Palestinian people, pointing out that Arab diplomacy did not rise to the level of the event in the first days of the Al-Aqsa flood.
He added that the emergency Arab-Islamic summit constituted an important shift in condemning the aggression that was proven to target civilians, calling for dealing with the Palestinian issue fairly and relying on the Palestinian people in dealing with the
usurping entity.
For his part, the academic and researcher in political affairs, Dr. Mujasha Al-Tamimi, explained to “Al-Sabah” that the Iraqi position is based on a clear legal basis, praising the development of Iraq’s foreign relations.
He described the Iraqi government's position as the most in solidarity with Gaza, noting that the Prime Minister informed a number of leaders in the region of Baghdad's full solidarity with Palestine and called on them to support this approach because there is a need to support more Arab countries to pressure the Zionist entity to stop military operations and bring food, medical supplies and fuel into Gaza. .
Al-Tamimi pointed out that Iraqi law prohibits normalization with the Zionist occupation, and therefore the official and popular Iraqi position is based on a clear legal basis.
He pointed out that during the past years, Iraq has achieved important developments in the field of diplomatic relations with various countries, especially in overcoming the decline in diplomatic, political and economic relations with many countries, which occurred due to the rule of dictatorship that involved the country in countless wars and problems.
