    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Tuesday (November 21, 2023), member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Salah Al-Tamimi, revealed the details of the security plan for the provincial council elections on December 18.
Al-Tamimi said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “plans to secure the electoral process on December 18 have been completed in all operations command headquarters in all governorates except the Kurdistan region, and fixed contexts have been set for the axes of each sector, in terms of challenges with a map for the spread of polling stations.” Whether in cities, rural areas, or even remote areas.
He added, "The Supreme Security Committee responsible for managing the December 18 elections file will adopt three important variables, which are the mechanisms of multiple belts around the polling centers and the distribution of formations with operations rooms in each governorate, in coordination with the Commission through its representatives."
He pointed out that "the security situation in Iraq is stable despite the recording of some violations, which do not affect the context of holding the elections on time."
Earlier this November, the Ministry of Interior announced the readiness of the security plan for the provincial council elections, in addition to the formation of a supreme security committee of 7 cybersecurity specialists for the elections.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Miqdad Al-Moussawi, told the official newspaper, “The security meetings to determine the plan to secure the elections are continuing,” and he added, “All preparations and preparations have been completed and all matters are ready. All that remains is setting the basic and final lines of the security plan,” and he stated that “The plan will include the participation of all parts of the Internal Security Forces.”
In addition, the Digital Media Center stated, “The Supreme Security Committee to secure the elections has formed a special committee for cybersecurity consisting of 7 representatives with expertise in technical equipment,” noting that “the committee’s mission is to examine the equipment for the electoral process.”
