    Today, Sunday, the Veterinary Department in the Ministry of Agriculture set the controls and conditions for importing live animals, while indicating that the movement of animals inside Iraq is conditional on the availability of a health certificate.
    The Director-General of the Department, Thamer Al-Khafaji, said, “Iraq is a member of the World Animal Health Organization (WOAH), and therefore relies on the health law for terrestrial animals of the WOAH animal organizations.”
    Al-Khafaji added, "There is a system of exchanging veterinary health certificates between countries," noting that "Iraq requires a veterinary health certificate signed between the two countries, as a basic condition for importing live animals."
    He stressed, "No approval will be granted to import live animals, unless there is a veterinary health certificate signed between Iraq and the country importing from it," explaining that "the movement of animals inside Iraq is conditional on the availability of a health certificate proving that these animals are free of epidemic diseases, and in light of that, the movement is approved." for animals and their transport.
    He pointed out that “the Veterinary Department has an epidemiological monitoring system concerned with monitoring and investigating cross-border diseases, as well as epidemic diseases within the country,” stressing that “there is high coordination with the World Animal Health Organization, the International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the World Health Organization (WHO) WHO)".
