    Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Planning announced the completion of the work of the committee formed to address the lagging hospitals file, and while it indicated that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani had directed to end the lagging projects file during 2024, it confirmed that the current year will be decisive to address and end the file. 
    The ministry’s spokesman, Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “There are approximately 1,000 lagging projects, and the ministry is working to address them,” indicating that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani directed that this file must be completed during the current year.” 2024".
    Al-Hindawi added, “The lagging projects are distributed between the Regional Development Program and the investment program for ministries and entities not affiliated with a ministry,” stressing that “there is close follow-up and direct supervision by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim, to complete this file.”
    He explained, "The focus will be on hospital, school, sewage and water projects, given that they represent service priorities and are part of the government program to improve the level of services for citizens in various fields."
    He pointed out, “There are two formed committees headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim, the first of which is working to address the issue of lagging hospitals, as this committee has completed its work in this aspect, after developing solutions and treatments for all the problems of these projects,” stressing “the resumption of We are working on many hospital projects, a number of which have been completed, and the remainder will be completed during the coming months of this year.”
    He pointed out that "the second committee, also headed by the Minister of Planning and membership of the Integrity Commission, the Financial Supervision Bureau, and the Iraqi Contractors Union, is tasked with reviewing the rest of the projects and addressing all problems," indicating that "there are contractual problems related to the contracts between the two parties to the project, and there are problems related to previous decisions that stopped them." Projects.
    He continued, "The committee is working in full swing to address all the problems related to the lagging projects," stressing that "the year 2024 will be a decisive year for addressing the file of lagging projects."
