    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said that he discussed the oil export file with the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil, but he could not set a date for resuming the export of the region’s oil.[/rtl]

[rtl]Regarding salary funds, the president of the region stated that this issue cannot be turned into a “pressure card against the region,” noting that the region needs more than 875 billion dinars to pay salaries alone.[/rtl]

[rtl]Barzani confirmed, during a press conference in Baghdad, that the regional government is dealing with the issue of salaries “transparently,” and said, “Our position is clear and we support solving the problems and not repeating them.”[/rtl]

[rtl]Turkey stopped exporting 450,000 barrels per day of oil from northern Iraq on March 25 after the International Chamber of Commerce ruled in an arbitration case.[/rtl]

[rtl]The ruling orders Turkey to pay compensation to Iraq worth $1.5 billion for the damage it suffered due to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s unauthorized export of oil between 2014 and 2018.[/rtl]

[rtl]The Iraqi Oil Minister, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, said that he proposed to the Kurdistan Regional Government and foreign oil companies in the region to amend existing contracts to others to divide profits.[/rtl]

[rtl]The minister added that he is optimistic about reaching an agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government during the coming period to resume oil exports, noting that production sharing contracts in the Kurdistan Region are unacceptable.[/rtl]
