The US "Bloomberg" agency revealed a possible Turkish refusal to Iraq's request to resume oil exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, after the Iraqi Oil Ministry announced that Turkey would be informed of the resumption of exports tomorrow, Saturday.
The agency quoted a Turkish official, who "rejected the claim that Iraqi oil is about to flow again," noting that "it is unlikely that Turkey will accept an Iraqi request to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan region through the port of Ceyhan tomorrow, Saturday."
And the Iraqi Ministry of Oil had announced that Turkey had been informed of the resumption of oil exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, starting from Saturday, after it had stopped since last March.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government reached, last month, a final agreement to resume oil exports from the north through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
The export of Iraqi oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan was stopped two months ago, due to a decision by an international arbitration court that ruled in favor of Iraq in a case against Turkey regarding crude oil exports from the Kurdistan region.
Turkey stopped Iraq’s exports from the north, amounting to 450,000 barrels per day, through the pipeline after the verdict was issued, as the International Chamber of Commerce ordered Ankara to pay compensation to Baghdad in the amount of $ 1.5 billion for the damages it suffered, due to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s export of oil, without the permission of the government.
