Mawazine News - Baghdad
The Czech Ambassador to Iraq, Peter Štepanek, revealed an expected visit by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to Prague, while pointing to the development and improvement of political and economic relations between the two countries during the next stage.
Štepanek said, in a statement reported by Al-Sabah newspaper, seen by Mawazine News, that since the formation of the current Iraqi government until now, we have noticed a noticeable security and economic improvement, as the Czech Republic seeks to develop and improve economic relations between the two countries, noting that his government has taken a step to strengthen relations. With Iraq when its Foreign Minister visited Baghdad, and on the sidelines of the visit, a symposium was held for businessmen from both sides.
He expressed his hope to host Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Prague during the next stage, and his agenda will include a meeting with Czech President Peter Bevel, noting that meetings of the Czech-Iraqi committee were held on the 5th and 6th of this month, with the Iraqi delegation headed by Minister of Industry and Minerals Khaled Battal. He meets with his Czech counterpart, Josef Sikela, to discuss the Czech desire to invest in the oil field in Iraq and to use modern extraction techniques without using water in this regard, given the crisis that the country is suffering from, as well as transportation lines and refineries, as well as petrochemical investment, minerals, energy, and water treatment.
The Czech ambassador explained that these meetings pave the way for the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to Prague during the first half of this year, based on the invitation extended to him by his Czech counterpart, Peter Fiala, by the Foreign Minister during his visit to Baghdad, to become an important step towards the development of relations between... The two countries have not witnessed high-level visits between the two countries for years, in addition to economic development.
He stated that the issue of entry visas between the two countries will be on the table of the meetings of the foreign ministers of the two countries, especially since there are difficulties for Czech businessmen in obtaining them, hoping that they will obtain an entry visa when they visit the Iraqi embassy in Prague, instead of obtaining a single visa when they enter the country. Iraq, while the Czech Republic, as a European country, is bound by the system in force in the Schengen countries, and the Czech embassy provides assistance to businessmen, and the embassy in Baghdad receives holders of diplomatic and service passports, with some special exceptions for some holders of regular passports, especially if they are members of an official delegation.
Štjepanek noted the existence of close military cooperation between the two countries, through the availability of Czech trainers and advisors within the NATO mission, in addition to equipping the Iraqi army with heavy equipment and machinery and 12 L159 aircraft that participated in the military parade on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi army, which are among the modern and developed aircraft, expressing his hope. Signing a sustainability contract with the Czech manufacturer and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.
He stressed that the oil facilities established by the Czech Republic in Iraq since the 1970s and 1980s are still operational, and the possibilities are available to develop and improve them by the same manufacturing companies, pointing out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is estimated at 255 million dollars, the majority of which is the Czech Republic’s purchase of Iraqi oil, in When Iraq buys Czech cars.
The Czech ambassador added that his republic has discussed agricultural mechanisms, water management and recycling programs, and desalination programs through the meetings of the joint committee, and they will be on the dialogue table during the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, as they will be of a high level of importance for obtaining an increase in the amount of water in the country.
