Parliament: We are following the first and second packages of government projects

The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee begins procedures to follow up on the project packages recently launched by the government, indicating that it will push to put the housing law in the spotlight to contribute to solving the building crisis in the country.
Committee member MP Madiha Al-Moussawi said: “The Council of Ministers launched the first and second packages of projects and they are under implementation, and the work needs time to be completed correctly,” noting that “work in the Baghdad Municipality is greatly delayed.”
Al-Moussawi added, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “the size of the current allocations to the Baghdad Municipality could have ended many of the problems in the lagging projects and provided service to the people of the capital,” indicating that “the Projects Directorate in the Baghdad Municipality started new projects, without Complete the old one.
The representative pointed out that “the Services Committee follows up on the projects under implementation and the completed ones, not the housing units, and since many of the projects are fictitious, we will work in the committee to refer them to integrity.”
Al-Moussawi's colleague on the committee, MP Mahma Khalil, considered the housing law one of the important laws at the present time. Khalil told “Al-Sabah”: “Discussions regarding the law are continuing, as there are proposals that we demand to be included in the law, which is to increase the financing ceiling of the Housing Fund, to include the largest segment of citizens,” stipulating mechanisms for lending, including that “there be a plot of land for an Iraqi citizen.” And a monthly salary, and therefore we want to increase the ceiling to reach more than one trillion dinars, and in the end the government’s opinion remains on this matter, so that the largest segment of citizens can benefit.” The representative in the Services Committee continued by saying: “There are demands to merge the fund with the private sector, in accordance with Article 25 of the Constitution, which stipulates the development of the private sector and attention to it,” considering the presence of investors “very important in order for the private sector to benefit and the fund’s money to be invested in residential units in order to The citizen benefits,” he said. Regarding the way the Housing Fund works, he said, “The committee called for interconnection between the public and private sectors, and as for the loan period, we are among those who demand that it be increased.”
