Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Political analyst, Hawar Nirwayi, confirmed that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s visit to the United States comes at an important time, considering it an “important visit.”
Masrour Barzani arrived yesterday, Sunday, in Washington, DC, with an official invitation, during which he will hold a series of meetings with senior American officials in the White House, the State Department, and Congress.
In an interview with Kurdistan 24, Nirwayi said that the political and constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region "enjoys the support of the United States, which intends to compensate the Kurds for the historical oppression they were subjected to in Lausanne 100 years ago."
Pointing out that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's visit to the United States "is a new beginning for the United States in post-2003 Iraq."
He pointed out that the United States is "trying to launch a new plan, especially after the decisions of the Iraqi Federal Court, and at least to prevent another decision from being taken."
The Prime Minister is accompanied by a government delegation consisting of the Minister of Peshmerga, the official of the Foreign Relations Department, and a number of other government officials.
The meetings will focus on ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, in addition to discussing the latest developments in Iraq and the region.
