The Finance Committee is examining procedures for implementing the customs automation system

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee, while hosting the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, discussed the procedures for implementing the tax and customs automation system.
A statement by Parliament stated that “the Finance Committee, headed by Atwan Al-Atwani, hosted Finance Minister Taif Sami, in order to follow up on the procedures for implementing the tax and customs automation system, and a number of important files.”
Meanwhile, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Financial Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Saleh, stressed the importance of introducing a comprehensive banking system at the ports.
Saleh told IA: “Al-Rafidain Bank is one of the largest Iraqi government commercial banks in terms of the weight of its assets and operations, and it dominates nearly half of the assets of the Iraqi banking market,” indicating that “the entry into the comprehensive banking system through the branches of the Rafidain Bank at the country’s border crossings” (sea, air and land) is a positive integration with the current port and customs automation policy.”
He added, “The comprehensive banking system provides an important auxiliary tool that the banking system performs in enhancing government cash flows immediately through the collection of government levies, especially from various services or customs duties in the country’s border regions.”
