    An informed source revealed today, Wednesday (May 15, 2024), the date when the President of the Region, Nechirvan Barzani, will issue the final decision regarding the postponement of the Kurdistan Parliament elections, while indicating the reasons for Barzani’s visit to Baghdad yesterday, Tuesday.
    Postponement date
    The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "Barzani is awaiting the federal court session scheduled for next Sunday to consider the complaint submitted by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani regarding the seats of the components and the division of seats between the provinces .  "

    He added, "The President of the region will take a decision to postpone the Kurdistan Parliament elections," noting that "his presence yesterday in Baghdad is for the purpose of consulting the political blocs and their leaders regarding the postponement and the new date."

    Yesterday, Tuesday (May 14, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, while during the meeting, the general conditions in the country and a number of issues at the national level were discussed, as well as the conditions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the government’s measures to implement Its strategic plans, which relate to strengthening the Iraqi economy and achieving development and prosperity for all the Iraqi people , ” according to a government statement received by “Baghdad Al-Youm.” 
    According to the statement, "the meeting witnessed discussion of a number of common files, and an emphasis on continuing dialogues and meetings between the two sides at various levels, within the framework of reaching sustainable solutions within the constitution and the law."
    On (May 9, 2024), writer and political analyst Jawad Malik Shahi confirmed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s failure to participate in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections means that they will not be held at all .
    Outcomes of the crisis 
    Malak Shahi said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “even if the elections are held, they will be in vain, as the Kurdistan Democratic Party is an important and major party in the democratic process in the region .  ”
    He added, "The decision of the Federal Court, the Commission, the coordination framework, and even the regional and international parties have reached a conviction of the necessity of finding a way out of the region's election crisis. In my opinion, the decision of the Federal Court that was issued yesterday, Tuesday, is clear signals to postpone the elections, and all parties will agree on a new date to be announced by the president."     Earlier, the Federal Supreme Court issued a state order to stop the implementation of the procedures of the Independent High Electoral Commission related to the Kurdistan elections and the approval of the names of the candidates, based on a lawsuit filed by the Prime Minister of the region, Masrour Barzani, due to the commission’s approval of the distribution of the number of seats for each of the region’s governorates based on The number of people entitled to vote, not the number of people, which is contrary to the Constitution, according to the lawsuit .
    The Kurdistan Democratic Party previously announced its boycott of the Kurdistan Parliament elections scheduled to be held on June 10, in protest against the decisions of the Federal Court against the Kurdistan Elections Law, including abolishing the quota seats and reducing the number of seats in the regional parliament to only 100 seats.
