     Information / Baghdad
Today, Saturday, a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Ali Neama, explained the positive results achieved from combating electronic blackmail.
Nimah told Al-Maalouma Agency, “Electronic blackmail is one of the new crimes in Iraqi society that has emerged at alarming rates in recent years with the development of communications horizons and communication platforms and the exploitation of some loopholes in order to threaten victims.”
He added, "Electronic blackmail leads to complex problems in society, which prompted the security services to adopt a strategy to combat it that was very effective during the year 2024 by overthrowing more than 40 extortionists in several governorates and referring them to the Iraqi judiciary."
He pointed out that "electronic blackmail crimes have decreased by more than 70% compared to previous years, in addition to growing awareness of how not to fall into the blackmail trap and communicate directly with the security forces."
It is noteworthy that electronic blackmail is one of the crimes that has emerged in recent years, most of which directly target young people.
