The framework threatens with a “pluralistic majority” to decide the position of the Parliament Speaker

The Coordination Framework intends to decide on the position of Speaker of Parliament in the coming days, while indicating that any candidate agreed upon by the Sunni forces will be approved by them.
Ali Al-Bandawi, a member of the House of Representatives within the Coordination Framework, said, “The framework’s representatives are determined to decide on the presidency of the council in the coming days,” noting that “any candidate agreed upon by the Sunni forces will be passed by the Coordination Framework.”
He added, "If the Sunni parties do not reach an agreement on choosing a candidate, the position will be decided by a numerical majority."
Al-Bandawi pointed out that “the Coordination Framework can pass any candidate for the presidency of parliament according to the majority it has in the House of Representatives, but currently it does not want to pass any candidate who is not agreed upon within the Sunni political house.”
Yesterday, Thursday, member of the Al-Hasm Alliance, Salah Al-Kubaisi, confirmed that there is a proposal to manage the session to select the Speaker of the House of Representatives, without the acting Speaker, Mohsen Al-Mandlai.
Al-Kubaisi said, “There are proposals, but they are individual and do not express the opinion of the political blocs. They are represented by the Sunni forces’ request that the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives be managed by the Second Deputy Shakhwan Abdullah instead of the First Deputy Mohsen Al-Mandalawi.”
He added, "No time has been set for choosing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the president may be elected during the second or third session of the new legislative term."
He pointed out that "a request signed by 50 representatives will be submitted to hold a special session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives."
