The House of Representatives begins its legislative session

Yesterday, Saturday, the House of Representatives held its first session of its second legislative term, the third legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle, headed by the Acting Speaker of the House, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and attended by 171 representatives.
The media department of the council stated in a statement that, at the beginning of the session, Al-Mandlawi recalled the advent of the new Hijri year and the incident of the tenth of Muharram with the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, calling for drawing lessons and morals from the revolution of Imam Hussein as a reformist approach to serve our people and our country.
On the other hand, Al-Mandlawi noted that the government had been approached to inquire about the Civil Service Law to explain the reasons for the delay in sending the project to the House of Representatives after it had been withdrawn earlier.
The Council completed the first reading of the draft law amending the first law of the Martyrs Foundation Law No. (2) of 2016, submitted by the Committee of Martyrs, Victims and Political Prisoners, which aims to find new resources for the fund, provide services and facilities to beneficiaries of the provisions of this law, achieve equality in the distribution of rights and privileges among categories of martyrs, and review the organizational structure.
The Council completed the first reading of the draft law on the ratification by the Republic of Iraq of the air services agreement between the Government of Iraq and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee, in order to activate and develop air services between the two countries and beyond and develop cooperation in the field of air transport.
During the session, part of which was chaired by Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, Vice President, the Council completed reading the report and discussing the draft law of the National Intelligence Service submitted by the Security and Defense Committee.
The House of Representatives also completed reading the report and discussing the proposed law amending the first draft of Passports Law No. (32) of 2015 submitted by the Security and Defense Committee.
It was then decided to adjourn the session until Sunday.
