The Ministry of Transport announced, on Tuesday, a meeting of the Supreme Coordination Committee of the Quadripartite Development Road between Iraq, Turkey, the Emirates and Qatar, next Thursday, indicating the rates of completion of the initial designs of the project.
The Director of Railways at the Ministry of Transport, Younis Al-Kaabi, said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that a meeting of the Quadripartite Committee will be held next Thursday in Baghdad, to discuss the latest developments in the project's work and the rates of completion of the railway designs and preparation for the upcoming ministerial meeting in Ankara.
For his part, the Director of the Projects Department at the Railways, Fadhel Abbas, revealed the rates of completion of the railway designs with regard to the initial designs of the project, in addition to what the first phase of railway development works includes, which will include four sections.
Fadel added that the designs of the railway line for the development road have been completed by about 55 percent, and the extension of the line for the expressway has also reached 55 percent completion rates. As for the detailed designs, the initial designs have reached 85 percent for both the railway line and the expressway line. The first phase includes developing the current railway line from the Grand Faw Port to the Turkish border in Fish Khabur.
