Shafaq News/ The Al-Nujaba Movement, the most prominent Iraqi armed faction, confirmed today, Wednesday, that there is no truce between the factions and the American forces, indicating the factions' readiness for any confrontation with those forces.
The movement's leader, Mahdi al-Kaabi, told Shafaq News Agency, "Targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces is an aggression against the Iraqi state and government," adding that "it is the duty of the Iraqi government to defend the country and protect it from American aggression."
Al-Kaabi added, "There is no truce between the Iraqi Islamic factions and America, but there is a calm between the Iraqi Islamic Resistance and the Iraqi government to give it a chance to negotiate diplomatically with America and pressure it to withdraw from Iraq."
The leader of the Al-Nujaba Movement said, "The Iraqi factions were and still are fully prepared and ready, especially with the advanced and diverse weapons they possess, to confront the American occupier."
Earlier today, Wednesday, the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Ali Al-Fatlawi, told Shafaq News Agency, "The Resistance Coordination Committee called for an emergency meeting to discuss the American bombing that targeted the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf Al-Sakhar, and to discuss the possibility of responding to this aggression."
Al-Fatlawi said, "There will be a position of the Resistance Coordination Committee regarding the aggression operation, and this position will be announced in the coming hours after the end of the meeting, which includes all the leaders of the factions included in the Resistance Coordination Committee."
The military spokesman for the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi armed forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, said on Wednesday that coalition forces had committed a "heinous crime and blatant attack" north of Babylon, pledging to take appropriate legal and diplomatic measures "to preserve rights."
An American official said on Wednesday that his country's forces targeted fighters in the Iraqi province of Babil with a defensive air strike who tried to launch drones that threatened American forces and the international coalition, resulting in the killing of four members of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
