The Iraqi Border Forces Command denied the existence of any tunnels linking the Iraqi and Syrian borders or with other neighboring countries.
The command media said in a statement that “there are no underground tunnels used for smuggling or illegal activities.”
It added that “the borders are subject to strict control through widespread checkpoints and modern monitoring systems, and that there is no evidence of the existence of such tunnels.”
He explained that "there is constant coordination with neighboring countries to ensure border security and prevent any illegal activities," stressing "the importance of joint cooperation in combating smuggling and terrorism."
Earlier, Al-Mada quoted sources in the tribal mobilization, saying that “armed groups (ISIS) are infiltrating the border in a narrow manner, i.e. in small numbers and with difficulty, and this is considered a breach of the Iraqi borders,” which the Border Forces Command categorically denied.
