free zone with Iranian province of Khouzistan.

Discussions were held here with the Iranian delegation on establishing a free zone between the two provinces.

It is expected that a Basra governmental delegation will leave to Khouzistan province to put "the final touches for the project".

This project needs the approval of the Iraqi parliament, some sources said.

The project shall be made on the investment basis, which will contain factories, stores and commercial offices.

Basra has an international airport, five trade ports and two border outlets, the first with Kuwait and the second with Iranian Shalamcha borders.

Hundreds of trucks and thousands of passengers pass through Shalamcha outlet that obliged the Iraqi government to find another outlet to minimize the pressures on this outlet.
