[ltr][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]BAGHDAD - Iraq Press - January 25: Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi said that Iraq 's oil belongs to the Iraqis, in response to US President Donald Trump, who said that Washington had to take Iraq 's crude reserves. Abadi said during a news conference Tuesday when asked about Trump 's comments, saying it is not clear why the US president meant when, following "occur according to the Iraqi oil constitution for the Iraqis."
Abadi pointed out that the US president has sent messages which shows an increased level of assistance to Iraq, without clarifying details of the nature of the assistance, following "I have confirmation from Mr. Trump , through a phone call and letters that reached us after that that the support not only continue but will increase to support Iraq in the face terrorism at various levels. "
The Trump hinted, in an interview with officials from the CIA last Saturday, that the United States had to take Iraqi oil to pay off the invasion in 2003 , which resulted in the collapse of Saddam Hussein 's regime costs.
