Trump is issuing a directive to speed up the campaign against a sympathetic organization
WASHINGTON, May 20 (Xinhua) - US Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph D. Danford announced directives from US President Donald Trump to speed up the campaign against a terrorist organization.
"Trump has issued directives to speed up the campaign against Da'ash," Danford told a joint news conference with the US Secretary of Defense and the envoy of the International Coalition for Iraq and Syria in Washington. "The international coalition has undermined the organization's ability to achieve its objectives in Iraq and Syria."
"The coalition has made significant progress as the oil-producing areas have been restored and many leaders have been released," he said. "We are doing everything possible to prevent the organization from rearming its fighters."
Danford pointed out that "the coalition get rid of the existence of a preacher in the border area with Turkey," noting that "there is confidence in the Iraqi leadership and the ability of leaders to control the region and this is amazing and is a major achievement." Finished
