Guardian: Washington seeks to repeat the Iraqi scenario in Iran

The Guardian quoted informed sources that the White House is trying to pressure the US intelligence services to provide evidence to prove Iran's violation of the nuclear agreement, as happened with Iraq in 2003.

The Guardian reported in a report published Monday that intelligence officials had learned lessons from the Iraqi experience when America intervened militarily in Iraq with false evidence and tried to counter these pressures.

The Times quoted a former CIA analyst Ned Bryce as saying his colleagues were complaining about the president's attempts to influence them, saying they told him they were disgusted and had lived these events before.

For his part, the former deputy head of the CIA, David Cohen, told CNN that US President Donald Trump appeared to have acknowledged Iran's violation of the nuclear deal before obtaining any convincing evidence, warning that the politicization of the work of the devices Intelligence and force it to follow the White House's position at random to undermine the utility of these organs.
In turn, the chief US negotiator in the nuclear talks with former Tehran, Robert Miley, predicted that it would be difficult for Trump to ignore the objective intelligence, compared to what was under the reign of former President George W. Bush.

The former official said the most important difference between these two lies in the fact that the current American and international community has witnessed the repercussions of Washington's intervention in Iraq and will try not to repeat its previous mistakes.

Former IAEA legal adviser Laura Rockford said Washington's attempt to press the IAEA without providing convincing evidence of Iranian violations could have bad consequences for the United States itself.

David Cohen joined the warnings, saying Washington's continued effort to boost pressure on Iran would widen the gap between the United States and the rest of the world.

Relations between Washington and Tehran have increased dramatically since Donald Trump took office early this year, putting the verge of collapse of the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the 5 + 1 group as a result of marathon negotiations in the Austrian capital Vienna in July. 2015.

Trump a month ago stressed his conviction that Iran was violating the deal, although the US State Department confirmed Tehran's commitment to the agreement more than once.

The nuclear deal seems to threaten a new crisis over Tehran's nuclear program, at a time when the issue of the nuclear arsenal is at the top of the international agenda amid escalating tensions over the Korean peninsula in recent months.
