The head of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce Jaafar al-Hamdani attributed the rise in food prices during the holy month of Ramadan to the recent government measures that put restrictions on trade movement.

Al-Hamdani said in a press statement that "the high prices in the month of Ramadan is due to the closure of border crossings and the complex procedures imposed on traders."

He pointed out that "the closure of border ports and the issuance of the General Authority of ports instructions and procedures complex contribute to impose a lot of restrictions on traders, noting that the restrictions in the end lead to delay the removal of goods, which is reflected negatively on citizens and their public life.
