newspaper "Nikkei" commercial Japan said on Saturday that the United States and Japan reached a general framework trade agreement with the United States to keep tariffs on Japanese cars.
The newspaper added that Tokyo reduced tariffs on beef and pork from the United States, according to "Reuters."
The deal was reached by US Trade Representative Robert Leitzer and Japanese Economy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Friday in Washington and will be announced at a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Sunday on the sidelines of a Group of Seven summit in Biarritz, France.
The report comes shortly after Motegi told reporters in Washington that he and Litzzer had made "significant progress" in their talks.
